With the end of August in sight, the high street’s autumn edits are dropping thick and fast. The weather might not have turned yet, but we’re already planning ahead and deciding which cold weather staples we’ll be unearthing from the depths of our wardrobes, which items we’ll donate and, finally, if there’s any holes that need to be filled for the season ahead.
We have to say, this year’s edit is looking better than ever, and brands have really gone to town on premium-looking, elevated basics that will slide seamlessly into your autumn/winter capsule. All of the below can be mixed-and-matched according to your needs: For example, H&M’s ribbed knitted dress can be dressed-up with knee-high boots, or dressed-down with the matching trousers and loafers. Or why not stick to a classic Breton knit? It’s sure to look just as chic with a midi skirt and chunky boots as it will with wide leg jeans and sneakers. In summary: all hail the year of the beautiful basic.
